To serve children under the age of 18 years old in Pennsylvania, three main pieces of documentation are required to comply with the Child Protective Services Law.
1. PA State Police Clearance (https://epatch.state.pa.us/)
Click on the Yellow New Record Check Button for volunteers only.
2. PA Child Abuse History Clearance (https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/)
You will need to create an individual ID and password.
3. Disclosure Statement and Waiver OR FBI Background Check

- If you have lived in Pennsylvania for 10+ consecutive years, please request a disclosure statement and waiver from the church office.
- If you have NOT lived in Pennsylvania for 10+ consecutive years, you will need to schedule an FBI Background Check at https://uenroll.identogo.com/workflows/1KG6ZJ. This is the only piece of documentation that has a cost; FBI Background Checks for volunteers cost $22.60. To have this cost reimbursed, contact Leah.

*Once you receive your clearances, print and bring them to the church office. Copies will be made for the church’s files; your originals will be returned to you. The state requires all volunteers to obtain clearances every 60 months.
Need help? Contact Leah Potter and she can help you complete these forms.
The Child Protection Policy requires volunteers to have been regular church attendees for at least six months. Reference checks and informal interviews can be a part of the process as well.
